About Us

In 1999, a focus on globalization produced demand for lower and lower priced products. Subsequently, the domestic textile industry took a tremendous downturn. Textiles and products filling the gap, primarily Asian-made, were less expensive because of cheap labor and materials. The cost of this cheaper option is now clear: increased business risk, documented environmental and social costs, climate change and costly business compliance issues.

Increasingly, consumers and retailers demand environmentally and socially responsible products, and this sheds new light on the business advantages of domestically manufactured and environmentally friendly textiles.

After meeting years ago at an Organic Exchange conference, we joined forces in 2008 to found SustainTex. We are committed to delivering more environmentally, socially and business-friendly textiles and to help fuel the resurgence of the US textile industry.

Who We Are:

Jack Miller is a 25-year veteran of the US textile industry. His career has focused on spinning and weaving cotton and polyester/cotton sheeting and poplin weight fabrics. In past few years Jack has spent his time in business development and industry outreach. He has been and still is involved with numerous industry groups within the domestic market.

Jerry Wheeler brings over 15 years experience in sales, marketing, and supply chain operations. Spending this time within the active lifestyle and uniform markets Jerry is also seasoned in the area of sustainable management and eco-friendly products and production.
